PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Green Square Stormwater Drain is a new stormwater drainage system to be built in partnership with Sydney Water and the City of Sydney.

Located about 3.5 km south of the city centre, Green Square is one of the City of Sydney’s key urban renewal precincts earmarked for development, which will accommodate about 40,000 new residents and 22,000 new workers by 2030.

The project provides for a 2.4km stormwater drain to carry flow from the entire catchment upstream of Joynton Ave and discharge into Alexandra Canal constructing approximately 4km of DN1800 concrete pipeline via micro-tunnelling in twin and triple parallel formation over a 1.3km section in high groundwater table.To accomplish this difficult task, the project and the contractor required a reliable, high-performance jacking pipe. After reviewing all of the domestic and international options available, 4.5 kilometres of DN1800 Jacking Pipe was purchased from Empire Infrastructure’s CP&P Australia.

CP&P delivered all of the required pipe and accessories on time and in full. To accomplish this, CP&P of Thailand was required to fabricate a new mould to meet the specific diameter requirement of the project. In addition, interjack lead and trail pipes had to be fabricated and delivered to give the alliance additional factors of safety.

The CP&P Jacking Pipe met all of the requirement of the project and exceeded expectations for delivery time. What’s more, CP&P’s price reduced the cost to the alliance an estimated 40% of the price that had been provided at tender time.
