Why Budaplast GRP

Built for rehabilitation. Proven for open trench.

01
Superior hydraulic efficiency at partial flow
The non-circular cross-section concentrates flow at lower depths, increasing velocity at partial fill. This improves self-cleaning performance in gravity sewer systems without the need for oversizing.
02
Chemical resistance and long design life
GRP construction with a resin-rich inner lining provides resistance to hydrogen sulphide, aggressive sewage chemistry, and groundwater attack. Design life exceeds 100 years under normal operating conditions.
03
Trenchless rehabilitation without excavation
Budaplast GRP non-circular pipe is engineered for the NO-DIG pipe-in-pipe lining method, enabling sewer rehabilitation with minimal surface disruption to traffic, services, and existing infrastructure.

Product Overview

Glass Reinforced Plastic
Non-Circular Pipe

Budaplast GRP non-circular pipe is a filament-wound glass reinforced plastic pipe system manufactured in Budapest, Hungary under ISO 9001 certification with TÜV Rheinland verification. The standard profile is the standard non-circular section (height-to-width ratio 2:3), the most widely used profile for municipal gravity sewer rehabilitation and construction in Europe.

The product is supplied with a rubber ring socket-and-spigot joint system for watertight connection in both open trench and trenchless applications. Stiffness class is selected to suit installation method, soil conditions, and cover depth. Resin type is specified by project to match chemical and temperature requirements.

Empire Infrastructure supplies Budaplast GRP non-circular pipe into Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands. Contact Empire's technical team to discuss sizing, stiffness class, and project suitability.

Profile Range

Standard and custom profiles

Budaplast produces non-circular pipe in the profiles listed below, as well as custom profiles manufactured to project requirements. Any profile fitting within a 3.0 metre diameter circle can be produced.

Primary profile
Standard Profile
The most widely used profile for municipal sewer rehabilitation. The 2:3 height-to-width ratio concentrates flow at lower depths, improving self-cleaning velocity at partial fill compared with circular pipe of equivalent cross-sectional area.
DN 240/360 – DN 1200/1800
Alternative profile
Flat Profile
A shallower profile used where cover depth or host pipe geometry constrains the standard profile. Provides similar hydraulic benefits with reduced overall height. Sized to project requirements.
Custom sizing available
Also available
Circular and Custom
Circular GRP gravity pipe in standard diameters, and fully custom cross-sections for projects requiring a specific profile. Any profile forming within a 3.0 metre mould circle can be produced.

Frequently asked

Questions about
Budaplast GRP

Budaplast GRP non-circular pipe is used for two primary applications: trenchless sewer rehabilitation using the NO-DIG pipe-in-pipe lining method, and open trench gravity sewer construction. The non-circular profile is particularly suited to gravity sewers where improved hydraulic performance at partial flow is required. Contact Empire Infrastructure to discuss suitability for your project.
The standard range covers DN 240/360 (240mm height x 360mm width) to DN 1200/1800 (1200mm height x 1800mm width). Sizes outside this range, flat profiles, and custom cross-sections are available to project requirements. Contact Empire's technical team to confirm availability for your required size.
Yes. Budaplast GRP non-circular pipe is designed for the NO-DIG pipe-in-pipe sewer rehabilitation method, where a new GRP liner is installed inside the existing host pipe without open excavation. This significantly reduces surface disruption to traffic, services, and the surrounding environment compared with open cut replacement.
Budaplast GRP non-circular pipe is manufactured by Budaplast Kft in Budapest, Hungary, under ISO 9001 quality certification with TÜV Rheinland independent verification. Empire Infrastructure supplies Budaplast product into Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands.
Yes. Budaplast produces any profile that can be formed on a mould fitting within a 3.0 metre diameter circle. Custom sizes, non-standard profiles, and special cross-sections are available on the basis of preliminary agreement with the manufacturer. Contact Empire Infrastructure to discuss your project requirements.
