Delivering an Innovative Stormwater Retention Solution

Supplying High-Performance GRP Infrastructure

Empire supplied 4,584 metres of DN450 OD507 SN10,000 PN16 CW-GRP pipe. Selected for its corrosion resistance, strength-to-weight advantages, and extended service life, the CW-GRP system delivered a robust and reliable solution for the stormwater retention network. Rather than relying on conventional concrete tanks or plastic crate systems, the design adopted a pipeline-based retention solution that delivered structural integrity, hydraulic efficiency, and long-term durability.

"This is the first time we have supplied this type of pipe into a stormwater retention system. While concrete or plastic storage systems are typically specified, GRP pipe proved to be the most suitable solution for this application."

A Sustainable Retention Solution

The project required a sustainable system capable of retaining stormwater during high rainfall events. Located approximately 200 kilometres west-northwest of Sydney, the project relied on Empire's established supply chain to coordinate manufacture and delivery of over 4.5 kilometres of large-diameter GRP pipe to site. Hynash Construction completed the installation using open-trench methods.

A Proven Alternative for Future Projects

The success of the Bathurst Stormwater Harvesting project positions GRP pipeline retention systems as a compelling alternative to conventional storage methods across municipal and regional developments. With growing demand for resilient and sustainable water infrastructure, Empire Infrastructure continues to work alongside industry partners to deliver high-performance solutions tailored to project requirements.
