Industry-Ready Infrastructure for Albury Nexus
GRP Proposed and Accepted as a Superior Alternative
In 2020, Empire supplied 1,650 metres of OD478 and 90 metres of OD427 BOSSPIPE™ Centrifugally Cast GRP (CC-GRP) Jacking Pipe. Albury City Council had originally procured ductile iron pipe, but Longford Civil demonstrated that BOSSPIPE™ CC-GRP offered clear program and cost advantages.
"When a contractor can demonstrate that GRP outperforms the originally specified material on both program and value, it validates exactly what BOSSPIPE™ delivers." Aaron Mackley, Director of Sales & Operations, Empire Infrastructure
Trenchless Installation for a Major Development Site
The trenchless section was installed via microtunnelling, forming the primary sewer spine for the future Nexus Industrial Precinct. Open trench installation was self-performed by Longford Civil for the remaining pipeline length. By mid-2020, approximately 95% of the pipeline had been successfully installed.
Enabling Regional Economic Growth
The completed sewer augmentation has prepared the 450-hectare Nexus Industrial Precinct for development, with the site forecast to generate more than $1.5 billion in Gross Regional Product for the Albury region annually once fully operational. The project demonstrates Empire's role in supplying critical GRP infrastructure to enable major regional economic projects in New South Wales, with on-time delivery across two pipe diameters.
