Versatile Pipe for a Multi-Method Alignment
Empire supplied 1,434 metres of CW-GRP pipe across three specifications: 316 metres of DN300 SN10,000 open trench pipe, 204 metres of DN300 SN640,000 jacking pipe, and 914 metres of DN350 SN640,000 jacking pipe. Manhole connectors, rocker pipes, and bends rounded out the package for both shallower open-cut and deeper microtunnelled sections.
"Mixed-method sewer projects demand pipe you can trust at every depth and in every condition, and CW-GRP is built precisely for this level of versatility."
Depth, Diameter and Development Density
The Ridgelea Estate sits 57 kilometres southwest of Melbourne's CBD, east of Pakenham, and will accommodate thousands of new residents upon completion. Connecting the estate to the existing South East Water network required pipe installed across two methods: open trench in shallower sections up to 6 metres depth, and microtunnelling in deeper sections reaching 12 metres. The high-stiffness SN640,000 specification ensured structural integrity under significant ground pressures.
Complete Pipe and Fittings from One Source
Manhole connectors and rocker pipes provided flexibility at transition points between the open-trench and jacking sections. Throughout design and delivery, Empire worked closely with All Areas Drainage and Pezzimenti Trenchless to ensure the pipe package met the technical requirements across both installation methods. The Ridgelea Branch Sewer demonstrates Empire's capability to supply CW-GRP across mixed-method projects in Melbourne's growth corridor.
