Supplying Reliable Pipe Beneath a Critical Highway

Inland Rail's Beveridge to Albury program is enabling double-stacked freight trains on the Melbourne-Brisbane corridor. At Tallarook, John Holland is delivering the Hume Freeway crossing works for the Australian Rail Track Corporation. Bothar Boring was engaged by John Holland to install a DN900 reinforced concrete jacking pipe beneath the Hume Highway, with Empire Infrastructure supplying the pipe for this crossing.

Empire Infrastructure supplied 116m of CP&P DN900 reinforced concrete jacking pipe (RCJP), chosen for its proven strength under jacking loads beneath live highway infrastructure. The pipe was selected to withstand the structural demands of pipe jacking beneath the Hume Highway, giving Bothar the confidence to install beneath live traffic without compromising the crossing's long-term integrity.

Part of a Wider Rail Clearance Program

The Tallarook works sit within a wider Australian Rail Track Corporation program to lower rail corridors and rebuild crossings across Inland Rail's Victorian network, creating clearance for double-stacked freight beneath highways just like the Hume.
